The Master Wand from the Mage Arena is quite costly. It is possible to utilize the magic's specific weaknesses because you have to modify the spell and not the weapon. Prayer pots are good for monsters that you have a tough time with.
However, as the previous post suggests, you can also use healing capabilities instead of these pots in general. Prayer pots are relatively inexpensive at the moment (3k for each?) and you shouldn't apply prayer to every place just to save money and it's not necessary.
